It’s a month into 2018 already…how are your resolutions going? A lot of us want to get into the habit of working out, eating better, and taking more “me” time. While those are all SO important, what are you doing for your skin on a daily basis? I’m here to share 4 beauty habits for better skin in 2018:
1. WASH YOUR FACE BEFORE WORKING OUT
If you’re like me, you might find it hard to roll out of bed for that 6am workout so you find yourself hitting the gym after school or work. That’s OK! Not removing your makeup before that workout? Not OK. If you aren’t cleansing your face before getting all hot and sweaty, you’re letting sweat and bacteria clog your pores underneath those layers of foundation! Keep skin clear on-the-go by stashing your cleanser (or your jane iredale Magic Mitt) in your gym bag!
2. CHANGE YOUR PILLOWCASE
If dirt, makeup, and other daily oils from your face transfer to your pillow, they’re definitely getting on your skin overnight too! Especially if you aren’t washing your face thoroughly each night, change your pillowcase more often. It’s recommended to change it at least weekly to prevent clogged pores, acne, and skin irritation. I recommend using a silk pillowcase because a) it feels SOOO luxurious, b) it’s much better at locking moisture in your skin compared to cotton, and c) it keeps your hair from tangling. 3. THROW AWAY OLD PRODUCTS
Skin creams, makeup, and even your razor can all harm your skin if they’re too old. If you aren’t sure when to throw your items out or how to tell, my post here can help! Not only can these beauty products and tools hold on to a TON of bacteria (eeeek) but they can also lead to some dangerous infections. Take the time to spring clean your makeup stash…and give yourself a great excuse to shop for all-new makeup and skincare! 😉
4. WEAR SUNSCREEN EVERY DAY
I know I say this in almost every post, but SPF all year long is SO important! Maybe “sunscreen” isn’t the first thing you think of for winter skin care, but the sun’s UV rays can be even more harsh reflecting off bright-white snow. This can lead to – you guessed it – premature aging! Wearing SPF each and every day is literally a life-saver…and your skin will look and feel much better than without in 10 years! Helloooo wrinkle-free complexion!
