My skin is looking better than ever now that I’ve been using my Enza Essentials Sustaining System ($122 for the whole system, four products), and I’ve been really wanting to show it off. In the past, I’ve shied away from highlighters because my cheeks tend to have a bit of red bumps on them (not necessarily acne but not necessarily not acne?) and highlighters tend to accentuate that. But now that my skin has cleared up significantly, I feel confident wearing a bit of a shimmer on my skin. I found one this week and I’m already in love – the Jane Iredale Dream Tint in Lilac Brightener ($39).
The Jane Iredale Dream Tint line is the brand’s offering to the CC cream trend, and I can just say that I’ve been loving the shade Medium Light. CC creams, if you’re confused, correct and even skin tone, protect from the sun, soothe, moisturizes, and prevents. It’s skin care and makeup in one! But when I was going through products the other day, I spotted a color I’d never seen before – Lilac Brightener.
I tried it out and I’m already in love. You can use this product in a couple of ways – as a typical cream highlighter, on the peaks of the cheek bones, bridge of the nose, bow of the lip; basically anywhere the light catches your face, and it gives a great glow. No shimmer, no glitter, just glow. I’ve never really used another highlighter like it! You can also mix it in with a heavier, matte foundation if you’d like to add a little bit of dewiness to it. I mixed it with my Tarte Amazonian Clay foundation and it looked amazing!
The effect is very subtle and difficult to photograph since this isn’t a glittery/shimmery highlight. The light hits the skin just right and glows from there on out. Not overwhelming at all! It also comes in a peach shade if you’re not a fan of more silver-toned highlighters. I think this is a great option for summer since the formula is extremely light, just like a CC cream!
